Top Tips for Using the Wonderbag

Here are some of the top recommendations to get the most out of your Wonderbag.

Tip #1 : Your pot selection

The first step is to use the correct pan for your Wonderbag. This should be the correct size, short handled, and have a tight fitting lid. See the sizing guidelines for more details.

Tip #2 : Bring to the boil

Bring your food to a gentle boil and simmer it before covering with a lid and placing in the Wonderbag. Simmering times will vary based on recipe, type of food and altitude. Place the boiling pot immediately from the stove onto a trivet or tea towel inside the Wonderbag

Tip #3 : Heat retention effectiveness

Heat is retained more effectively when 1) the pot is mostly full and sealed with a tight-fitting lid, 2) you don’t open the lid to check on the cooking food. Opening the lid will lower the temperature of the food, so if you do need to check, bring your pot of food back to a simmer before putting it back in the Wonderbag.

Tip #4 : Cleaning your Wonderbag

The Wonderbag can be spot washed and hung to dry. Front loading washing machines with a gentle wash cycle can also be used with cold water and minimal detergent. Hang dry or in a tumble dryer on a low temperature setting.

Tip #5: Cooking meat

If cooking meat, try starting with smaller pieces rather than whole joints. It's useful to understand your Wonderbag cooking times before experimenting with large pieces of meat, which often require longer cooking times.

Tip #6 : Protecting your Wonderbag

Before placing your pot into the Wonderbag, ensure you lay a tea towel or wooden chopping board to help prevent the interior fabric from burning.
