Cooking Time Guidance

How long should you cook your food in the Wonderbag?

The length of cooking time in the Wonderbag varies by recipe and there are several factors that can influence cooking times such as: type of pan used, how full the pan is, and how hot the food is before placing it in the Wonderbag.

As you start to use your Wonderbag you will get a good feel for how long certain foods take to cook and it will soon become your best friend in the kitchen!

If you're new to cooking with the Wonderbag, below you will find some useful information and guidance to help with cooking time.

To begin with, here is a graph showing how the temperature in the Wonderbag changes over time. Again, this can vary depending on some of the factors mentioned above.

Here is a rough guideline for cooking different types of food:

We recommend pre-soaking beans the night before, below is a simple chart that shows the approximate times and quantities to get you started on your bean adventures. Increased boiling times will lower the bag time. The following times are for uncooked beans, whereas pre-cooked tinned beans and lentils require much less time in the Wonderbag.

Cooking with the Wonderbag is a new concept to most people, so the best thing to do is start with simple recipes and gradually work your way up to more complex dishes. We recommend starting with smaller pieces of meat and vegetables, as these require less time cooking, and then move to larger pieces once you understand how much cooking time they require in the Wonderbag.

The key to success is getting your food to boiling temperature, and keep it here for at least 10-15 minutes, before putting the pan in the Wonderbag. You should also ensure your pan is filled to near the top, as an almost-full pan retains heat much better than a half-full pan.
